Atlanta Michelin Guide

As you may know, Nathan and I are trying every restaurant on the Atlanta Michelin Guide. We have made a pretty good dent in the list - we have tried 10 out of 44. I wanted to share our favorites and not-so-greats we have found so far! If you want to join us on our journey of trying all Michelin Guide Restaurants or are just looking for a new date night spot, click HERE for the full guide.

Top 3 Restaurants:

  1. Heirloom Market BBQ:  Heirloom  Market is the smallest of places with the biggest of hearts. This chef-driven restaurant was designed with the idea of paying respect to iconic BBQ food ways with the touch of our personal flavor. Chefs Cody and  Jiyeon decided to create Heirloom Market with one basic thought "What can we enjoy doing for the next 10 years". We decided to cook to our strengths. Simple, Classic, and Fresh are three adjectives that should  never be lost when providing such a polarizing cuisine as BBQ. Jiyeon, a  South Korean ex-pat, grew up with the flavors of grilled meats, pickled  vegetables, and a constant array of side dishes. Her culinary training  and travels in the states has led to a deep rooted love for "Seoul" food  or classic Southern cuisine. Cody (a Texas born, Tennessee raised,  Atlanta trained Chef) has spent countless hours cooking, eating, and  appreciating everything BBQ. Together they have created a place that  provides the best of "the things we eat on our days off."

  2. Fred’s Meat and Bread: Located in the Krog Street Market, what this contemporary space lacks in size it makes up for in charm. The concept is straightforward: sandwiches of all varieties from burgers and oyster po'boys to bahn mi and cheesesteaks. Each one is messy-delicious and over the top in the best possible way, as in the pimento cheese club with house-made pimento cheese, roasted poblanos, fried green tomatoes and bacon sandwiched between bread and seared. Meanwhile, the Italian grinder with all the meats, melty provolone cheese, garlic aioli and cherry pepper relish knocks it out of the park. Of course, there must be fries, and the barbecue version, with barbecue seasoning and a white barbecue sauce for dipping, won't disappoint.

  3. LanZhou Ramen: LanZhou Ramen opened its doors in May 2017, at 5231 Buford Highway in Doraville’s Pine Tree Plaza, with a menu that features their unique and authentic LanZhou hand-pulled noodles and much more. LanZhou is a type of hand-pulled noodle that shares its name with the city in China in which it originated, and owner Fu Li Zhang has been making them for decades now — from China to New York and now Buford Highway

Not-so-great:

The only restaurant we have not loved on the list so far is Nam Phuong. I really wanted to love this place because the service and experience was top-tier. However, we did not enjoy most of the food and ended up leaving hungry (not a good feeling when leaving a restaurant). The only item that I absolutely loved was the crispy egg rolls - I know you can get these all over Atlanta, but these were incredible. I encourage you to give this place a try, and if you like it, let me know what you ordered! We may have just ordered poorly and need guidance!
